Greenpeace overboard
Article Abstract:
Environmental group Greenpeace may be going too far by tracking the Japanese freighter Akatsuki Maru which is carrying 1.5 tonnes of reprocessed plutonium from Cherbourg, France to Japan. Greenpeace claims that a big risk is being taken by the Akatsuki Maru. However, Greenpeace's action will publicize the ship's route and make it open to terrorist attacks. Greenpeace's objections may be unfounded and other nations have not criticized Japan's actions. Japan, being an openly non-nuclear country, is capable of managing the transport of the plutonium which is to be used for nuclear power.
