The Argentine candidate
Article Abstract:
Dr. Domingo Cavallo would like to vie for the position of president during the 1999 presidential elections in Argentina. Forbes Globe Business & Finance appointed Cavallo publisher in 1998. Cavallo believes that media can influence the growth of the Argentinian democratic system. Cavallo advocates freedom and entrepreneurship in society which are the foundation of capitalism. This perspective is complementary to that of the Forbes family which owns the popular global magazine. Cavallo was formerly the foreign and economics minister of Argentina before he was removed in 1997.

Primetime TV
Article Abstract:
The shrinking viewership on primetime TV is not due to sagging quality of programming but due to demographic and social changes, said David Maran, media research director at New York-based J Walter Thompson. Growing competition from cable and other media such as the Internet is also eating into the market share of the Big Four networks. As a result, advertising costs on primetime hits such as 'ER' and 'Monday Night Football' have soared.
