HSBC to expand retail banking in Chinese market

HSBC Holdings PLC of the United Kingdom is to grow into China by opening retail banking interests. China is planning to open the banking market to 100 percent foreign competition by 2007. Global banking interests have been competing for market share in China with China's growing economic recovery.

American Express decides to remain in lower Manhattan
