Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) uses microwaves, methane and hydrogen to produce the best low-cost industrial diamonds yet manufactured. Crystallume Inc of Menlo Park, CA, has developed CVD-cobalt bonding process expected to revolutionize the cutting tool industry.

Steeling diamonds

Micronet Technology has invented a new process of turning buckminsterfullerenes into diamonds which are in turn formed into a steel called Rhondite. This steel is four times better than any steel now on the market.
