HarperCollins plans to control its digital books

HarperCollins Publishers Inc. of the United States is maintaining control of its catalogue by offering digitized files of its book products to major Internet search engines. The publishing house decided to head off Internet companies by offering the books it has published as electronic books. The backlist is estimated to be 20,000 titles with as many as 3,500 new titles per year.

Google to begin selling Web ads

Google Inc. of the United States is to begin selling Internet advertising in video format. The video advertisements are to appear on Web sites that are licensed advertisers to Google Inc. The search engine giant is the first online company to offer video advertising.
