Harvest of misfortune
Article Abstract:
Liquidity problems of housing loan companies in Japan are forcing their creditors to help these companies cope with the crisis affecting the real estate market in the country. One of the biggest creditors of these housing loan companies is Japan's national farmers' organization, Nokyo. Banks are willing to help the housing loan companies in order to prevent the further collapse of the real property market. However, Nokyo has refused to help the companies, although the huge $49 billion debt of housing loan institutions may soon forced the organization to extend a helping hand to the industry.

Running out of Time
Article Abstract:
Observers believe that the decision by Time Engineering, a listed telecommunications unit of Malaysian concern Renong, to seek court protection from creditors will prompt wider restructuring at Renong. Analysts and bankers believe that Renong's debt burden is unsupportable, and many feel that some form of state aid will be made available. The court-appointed protection process for Time Engineering may take some time.
