Haze worries re-emerge; Malaysia strives to keep tourists well informed
Article Abstract:
The Malaysian government has taken steps to prevent tourists from leaving the country in view of the news of another series of seasonal forest fires in Indonesia. Environment Minister Law Hieng Ding has announced that more precise readings of air-pollution levels would not be released anymore and that the public will be told only whether the air is good, moderate or hazardous. Although the haze is lighter than that of previous forest fires in Indonesia, tourist officials are hoping that the it will not get any worse.
