Hong Kong building king hits a wall
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong-based construction magnate Gordon Wu built his Shajiao C power plant on time but failed to earn the $400 million extra profit due to his consortium's failure to meet his Mar. 31, 1995 deadline. Wu was expected to receive the profit on power sold before the official June 30 deadline. He relied on the amount to compensate for the low price of electricity sold by the plans. The Shajiao C plant was built using new construction techniques.

Government changes tack on mining-contract policy; decision to drop proposed changes means foreign investors can proceed with projects
Article Abstract:
The Indonesian government is dropping proposed mining investment policy changes sponsored by Energy Minister I.B. Sujana that could have greatly discouraged investment in government-backed mining companies. The proposed changes would have forced foreign investors to give 10% of the equity in noncoal mining projects and to sell 51% of their equity in coal projects within ten years.
