Hong Kong diminished
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong has sought a reinterpretation of the Basic Law which guarantees residency rights to children of parents with a right to live in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal had ruled against a lw which denied reisdency rights to children born prior to their parents being allowed to reside in Hong Kong. This move by the Hong Kong government undermines both the judiciary and democratic freedom of Hong Kong, by encouraging mainland China to intervene.
