Hong Kong dollar is little jostled as island in the storm
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong may not suffer any financial setbacks compared to its neighbor Asian countries. The currency as well as the financial market are at a very competitive level. It enjoys a separate currency regulation from China with the United States controlling over its exchange interest rate. This, however is part of China's commitment to Hong Kong after the turnover in July 1, 1997. Nevertheless, the country is plagued with a housing shortage which economists believe may alter any curency surplus it is enjoying at present.
