Parmalat may settle claim with banker over a bond sale

Morgan Stanley of the United States is in negotiations with Parmalat S.p.A. of Italy to resolve claims invloving a bond sale it arranged in June 2003 for the dairy giant. Morgan Stanley reports that approximately $140 million in expenses relates to the case with Parmalat S.p.A. The dairy giant has also launched similar legal actions against other major banking interests it has had dealings with.

Parmalat shares surge after two-year hiatus

Parmalat S.p.A. of Italy has relisted its stock on the Milan Stock Exchange, opening at one Euro and closing at 2.99 Euros. The surge in shares was fueled by speculation of a takeover, leaving the dairy company with a market valuation of 5 billion Euros.
