Human cloning in South Korea fuels debate: fertility experts push for discussion on consequences
Article Abstract:
Lee Bo Yon of the infertility clinic of KyungHee University Medical center in Seoul, Korea, has succeeded in cloning a four-cell human embryo. The researcher is surprised by the worldwide reaction to his experiment. The embryo was created from the genetic material extracted from a 30-year old woman. Mary Lake Polan, chair of the gynecology department at Stanford University, who advised Dr. Lee when he was a post-doctoral student, said that if it is technically possible and if there is a market for it someone will do it.
