Hungarian government submits media bill to parliament
Article Abstract:
A bill soon to be considered by the Hungarian parliament calls for the privatisation of state-owned Magyar Television 2 (MTV2) and Danubius Radio, which will become public service companies. The possibility of the privatisation of broadcast media in Hungary has already attracted interest from a number of foreign investors, including Central European Media Enterprises (CME) and MTM Kommunikacios. Decisions must now be made about how many public stations are required and about freedom of speech.
