ING Barings props up ties
Article Abstract:
ING Barings has signed a deal to acquire 70% of Thailand-based brokerage firm AFCO Securities, but said that the deal would not undercut Dhana Siam Finance & Securities PCL, ING Barings longstanding partner. ING bought a 45% direct stakes in AFCO plus an additional 25% through an affiliated company. AFCO Securities will change its name to ING Baring Securities (Thailand) Ltd. ING expects to transact in the Stock Exchange of Thailand indirectly through Dhana Siam because AFCO is a subbroker that has no seat in the stock exchange and must therefor course its orders via another broker. The value of the deal was not released.
