INTER CONTINENTAL, SANJAY KHAN TO SET UP HEALTH RESORT NEAR BANGALORE

Inter Continental Hotels and Resorts (ICHR), the international luxury hotel chain, will join hands with Mr Sanjay Khan, former film star and director, to participate in his Rs68 crore health resort project. Mr Sanjay Khan's World Resorts Ltd (WRL) has set up a health resort, Golden Palms, on Tumkur Road near Bangalore at a cost of Rs68 crore. Golden Palms spread on 13 acres has 170 independent units. It is provided with a swimming pool, health and fitness centre, sports block and conference rooms. Under the agreement, ICHR will offer its franchise to the resort and will also manage the property of the resort but it will not hold stake in the project. World Resorts is a partnership company with a company in the US which holds aminority stake. (gs)

UWCC TO LAUNCH PILOT PROJECT WITH ERICSSON IN BANGALORE

The United Wireless Communications Consortium (UWCC) is to collaborate with Ericsson to launch a pilot project in Bangalore as a prelude to launching the IS-136 technology. The pilot project will target 500 consumers in Bangalore. Ericsson will provide the software for the project which will be implemented according to TEC guidelines. UWCC has decided to launch time division multiple access technology in Karnataka. (khr)
