IWAI CHALKS OUT Rs400-CR PLAN TO DEVELOP WATERWAYS
Article Abstract:
Inland Waterways of India (IWAI) plans to invest Rs400 crore during the Ninth Plan period (1997-2002) to develop the three national waterways of India. It plans to operate container services between Haldia and Calcutta. All the three national waterways will be navigable at all times. It will set up terminals and small ports for mechanised cargo handling at strategic locations. It has set a target for 20 billion tonne- kilometre (km) cargo handling capacity. About 2,500 vessels of 600-1,000 tonnes capacity at a cost of Rs5,000 crore will be required for handling 20 billion tonne-km cargo. (rk)

Development of a research tool for elicitation of consumer response
Article Abstract:
To be able to draw consumer responses from unstructured data, a new consumer research tool consisting of three major components - elicitation, analysis and market implications - is suggested. To investigate the patterns of foreign language learning behavior of tertiary students, a practical consumer research was conducted. The results of the study are presented along with the applications of the new proposed tool.
