Toyota: Japan's recession overdose

Kanji Kurioka, executive vice president of Toyota Motor Corp., rejects the idea that Japan's economy is close to collapsing, blaming the media for creating hysteria. He believes Japan's car makers were unable to keep up with the demand for popular models like Toyota's Land Cruiser. Toyota does not intend to boost its sales performance in 1998 by moving the launch date of a new model.

The assumptions about the kinds of planning solutions that fit particular social or economic needs, assumptions about what constitutes just and equitable judgment in situations of conflicts are discussed. The requirements are that planners in whatever context should carefully examine the foundations of their own beliefs and practice regardless of how they are acquired.
