Singapore's deputy prime minister for 13 years, the 52-year-old Lee Hsien Loong after getting the official nod to become premier, is still trying to remark himself to suit the job. Lee's big challenge is to 'endear himself' to fellow Singaporean's which he is trying to do through a careful campaign of newspaper interviews, TV appearances and public speeches.

Lee Hsien Loong takes over as the third prime minister of Singapore. Son of Lee Kuan Yew, he succeeds Goh Chok Tong as premier. A former brigadier-general, he has served as the deputy prmier for 14 years and also as the chairman of the Monetary Authority Of Singapore (MAS).
