Impasse could affect Cathay route
Article Abstract:
Officials at Cathay Pacific Airways (Cathay Pacific) have expressed concern over the breakdown of negotiations for a new air-services agreement between Hong Kong and the Philippines. Talks broke down after the Philippine panel insisted on altering the existing mechanism for the so-called fourth-freedom rights. Sources disclosed that a substantial part of the airline's growth projections are based on estimated income from the lucrative Hong Kong-Manila route.

Change in ownership helps correct Dragonair's course
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong Dragon Airlines will add new scheduled routes to China and extend additional Asian routes as Chinese state firms increase their holdings to 64%. The shareholdings increase occurred after Swire Pacific Ltd reduced its stake in Dragonair. The arrangement will enable Dragonair to gain entrance to Taiwan and add more routes for South Korea and Japan. Former Dragonair rival China National Aviation Corp. also acquired 36% of Dragonair holdings.
