Improving PRETREE's predictive capabilities
Article Abstract:
The PRETREE hierarchical choice model is a direct extension of the Elimination by Aspects model which is applied in capturing violations from assumptions pertaining to the Independence of Irrelevant Alternative (IIA). The application of the PRETREE aggregate model and a new modified PRETREE (MP) model for choice/preference modeling literature demonstrated the inferior (n-way) market share predictions of the PRETREE compared to MP. The superior n-way predictions of MP also incorporate more input information and eliminates partial IIA assumptions that are required by the PRETREE.

Separating capacity constraints in the CVRP using tabu search
Article Abstract:
A constructive algorithm, a randomized greedy algorithm and a very simple tabu search procedure were utilized for the separation of the capacity constraints in the capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP). The algorithms were able to solve exactly the CVRP through a Branch and Cut procedure. The relative efficiency of the three separation heuristics, however, is difficult to compare in the overall Branch and Cut because the procedure also includes separation algorithms for other classes of valid constraints.

A generic model for simulating office process flows
Article Abstract:
A generic core model for the simulation of office process flows involving substantial work volumes was developed based on the SCOPE software package. The core model for application-specific simulation of office process flows fulfills the requirements of a generic basis for office processes. The application-specific approach coupled with the user-interface SCOPE management software can also be utilized for static modelling.
