In-flight services
Article Abstract:
In-flight services consist of extras included in flight packages, such as food and drink or entertainment, such as films. The global in-flight entertainment and communication systems market was worth $400 million in 1992 compared with $1,203 million by 1996. Each system costs roughly $2.5 million to install on each aircraft. Increased air travel will increase expenditure on in-flight services, with the number of visitors to UK airports expected to rise from 47.6 million in 1997 to 56.2 million by the year 2000.

Leisure trends
Article Abstract:
The UK leisure industry is worth some 68.2 billion pounds sterling, with spending down 2.1% since 1989. The economic recession has impacted on leisure spending and it is not seen as a priority by most consumers. The erosion of the family unit shows a corresponding decline in traditional family pursuits, such as boardgames, and a rise in team-based activities. More people take part in home-based leisure activities, such as television, than outdoor pursuits.
