Outsider art, including the works of psychiatric patients and recluses as well as quirky and unusually imaginative folk art, has risen from curiosity to collectible art. The first connoisseur of such art was Jean Dubuffet, whose collection now resides in the Collection de l'Art Brut, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Article Abstract:
The image pottery has as an artistic medium is growing, thanks in part to work being done at the European Ceramics Work Centre in Holland. The centre attracts artists from all over the world, and the reputation of the medium's potential is growing in the artistic community.

Fantastic: outsider artists

Untutored folk artists are often recluses or mental hospital patients. The art they produce is unbridled by technical concerns, and often achieves intense self-expression. A list of galleries and exhibitions specializing in such 'outsider art' is provided.
