Independent travel
Article Abstract:
The lure of independent travel has become increasingly attractive to educated British travellers, seeking to avoid the more commercial tourist areas and the mainstream package holiday market. The independent travel market has a broad scope but generally centres around key areas, such as fly-drive U.S. holidays, flight-only travel to the Mediterranean and timeshare. It is estimated that around 21% of adult British tourists make their own holiday arrangements, split between motoring and air holidays. Main overseas destinations for independent holidays abroad are France, Spain and the U.S.
