The WTO holds much promise, but stay alert

The World Trade Organization (WTO), which replaced the GATT on Jan. 1, 1995, will significantly help boost international free trade and competition. The WTO will provide effective procedures for resolving trade disputes and will promote greater market access to businesses. In addition, it will also encourage greater transparency and predictability among businesses and will develop standardized regulations governing a wide range of business activities.

Tan Chong International's listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange may appeal to local investors who are interested in the Singapore property market since the company is involved in that market. The company also distributes Nissan cars in Singapore, Subaru cars in Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau. Nonetheless, numerous investors are still awaiting how the company performs before buying in.
