Intel, STMicro to receive less from venture

US-based Intel Corp. and Switzerland's STMicroelectronics N.V. will be receiving less money from their memory-chip joint venture, Numonyx, due to the current credit market turmoil. While STMicro was anticipating $468 mil and a 49% stake in the deal, it now expects to receive $364 mil. Intel was expecting $432 mil with a 45% stake, but now anticipates receiving less as well.

Intel net slips but still exceeds firm's outlook

Intel Corp. posted a drop of 2% in its net income for the 2003 first quarter. The chip maker posted $915 million (846.2 million euros) in quarterly net income. The results were still higher than what Intel had expected.
