Is Asian labour supremacy an accident of economic history?
Article Abstract:
The cheap-labor advantage offered by Asian markets will cease to exist over the long-run as inflation, interest rates, and unemployment rates in the United States improve. With the higher life expectancy rates around the world, a greater number of people will seek employment in Asia, putting a squeeze on the labor market there. Consequently, in the future, the cost of labor in Asia will rise to a level closer to that of other countries. Also, the cost of labor in the Asian nations will rise as labor unions strengthen their hold.
