Italy's Generali plans revamping to boost profits

Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. of Italy is to offer a 1.8 billion Euros ($2.1 billion) share buyback in a restructuring effort to streamline operations and increase profit revenues. The insurance company is to float 4 billion Euros in stock to increase revenues. Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. posted better earnings than financial projections for 2005.

Scor S.A. of France has made an unsuccessful acquisition bid for Converium Holding AG of Switzerland. The bid offer was 3 billion Swiss Francs ($2.43 billion) for the Swiss insurance interest. A takeover of Scor S.A. would create a synergy with approximately 5.3 billion Euros in annual premiums.
