LANCO INDUSTRIES PLANS FORAY INTO CONSTRUCTION

Lanco Industries Limited (LIL), a pig iron and cement producer, proposes to enter into the construction sector. The move follows the sluggishness in the pig iron and cement sectors. LIL will be seeking its shareholders' approval during its extraordinary general meeting at Tirupati on February 26, 1999. After getting its shareholders' approval, LIL will be taking sub-contracts from Lanco Construction, a group company. Lanco Construction is into the construction of dams, gauge conversions and building residential complexes. (ag)(m)
