JT MOBILES LAUNCHES NEW SIM CARD

JT Mobiles Ltd plans to launch its new Sim card, Deccan Mobile on May 27, 1998. JML provides mobile phone service in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Sim card will be available to subscribers in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Subscribers in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bangalore, Mangalore and Mysore must pay an operational fee of Rs1,575, a monthly fee of Rs250 and a refundable security deposit of Rs5,000 for local and STD calls for using the card. The card offers low airtime rates of Rs4-Rs8 per minute. (gs)

WALDEN NIKKO INDIA LAUNCHES $25-M FUND TO INVEST IN IT COS

Walden Nikko India Management Company Ltd of Mauritius has started a $25 million fund to invest in Indian IT companies. It will also invest in US software companies which have links with India. It plans to invest only in unlisted companies and wants to pick up between 10 to 40 percent equity stake in them. The company plans to invest in early stage firms and would be a strategic advisor to them. (khr)
