J&J agrees to stock swap for Centocor

Johnson & Johnson announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Centocor Inc. in a deal worth $4.9 billion (4.71 billion euros). The deal will be an exchange of shares between the two firms. Centocor is a biotechnology company. J&J will pay Centocor approximately $61 in shares for every individual Centocor stock. This is according to the terms of the deal, which must first gain the approval of both firms' stockholders.

Bio-Rad Labs to acquire Pasteur Sanofi in France
Article Abstract:
Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to purchase all of Pasteur Sanofi Diagnostics's shares, certain assets, and assumed liabilities. The acquisition price comes out to $210 million (205.1 million euros). Bio-Rad publicly announced its bid for Pasteur Sanofi on June 16, 1999. Sanofi Synthelabo SA and Institut Pasteur are selling Pasteur Sanofi to Bio Rad.
