Japan's largest computer manufacturers have not succeeded in the US and European markets for several reasons. Japanese firms lag behind in terms of technology, software, and services. Firms such as Fujitsu may open up foreign markets through acquisitions.

Mini-mills roll: Japan's steel makers
Article Abstract:
Small steel mills in Japan are faring better than larger ones currently. The maturing economy is recycling more cheap scrap steel used by the mini-mills. Increased government spending for public works is creating more demand for steel.
