Jewellery
Article Abstract:
The UK market for jewellery fell by 10% in 1990-94, although 1994 saw a 1.4% rise vs 1993, reaching 1.9 billion pounds sterling. The market has been hit by factors including the weak UK economy and a decline in the number of marriages. The real jewellery sector fell by 13% by value in 1990-94, although real jewellery still made up 86% of jewellery sales by value. The costume jewellery sector has been boosted by the arrival of higher quality products and the emergence of new retail formats such as teleshopping and party plan selling.

Gene Moore
Article Abstract:
Gene Moore, a window-dresser at Tiffany's, was aware of trends in fine art. He sought to produce gentle images, though some of his displays could shock, even in New York. Window dressers need to work in cities where people travel on foot, and there are fewer of these. People do not see windows from a car, and cars tend to be used in such cities as Los Angeles. Moore joined Tiffany's in 1955 and was considered an innovator at that time, when art nouveau predominated.
