One step too far
Article Abstract:
A recent stockmarket scandal in Bombay is remarkable chiefly because the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is taking serious action. While that is important, it could encourage a reversion to the era of secrecy and inflated share prices. The debacle involved stock price manipulation by officers of M S Shoes East. Sebi had issued rules that should have prevented the problem from arising, but the market seems unable to settle accounts on time.
