Bucher-Schorling, which combines the snow clearing activities of Bucher- Guyer of Switzerland and the Hannover business of Schorling, is the maker of the P25 sweeper/blower models that boast of a maximum power output of 353kW, a working width of 5.65m and a working speed of 40km per hour. Manufacturing of smaller sweepers is concentrated in Switzerland, while bigger sweepers featuring a hopper capacity over 4 cu m and specialist airport systems concentrated at Hannover.

Article Abstract:

Data released by the Assn of European Airlines (AEA) show that its 29 airline members flew some 201 million passengers in 2000, as against 186 million in 1999, representing a 7.9% increase in passenger traffic. The AEA added that annual load factor reached a record 73.5%, as traffic growth surpassed capacity increase. The trade group said its main priority for 2001 would be the provision of infrastructure and meet market demands for reliable and affordable air travel.

Cargo airlines start to test ADS-B

Article Abstract:

Cargo carriers' Jul 1999 test of the US Cargo Airline Assn's Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) programme is one way of determining whether ADS-B could provide a cost-effective option to TCAS. During the test, climb/descent rate, turn rate, data on aircraft identification, heading, velocity and altitude were all studied. This effort was made possible with the utilization of a global positioning system connection.
