Architectural services practice James Cubbit & Partners designed a new top for Victorian building Rayner's Mill in Huddersfield, England. The building, which is used as a training centre, has a roof made out of profiled-metal sheets. It has a perimeter walkway and a perforated stainless-steel sunshade. The practice has also designed an extension for university buildings in Cambridge, England.

The first stage of architectural services practice MacCormac Jamieson Prichard's student accommodation building at Oxford University, England, is complete. Students have lived at the hall of residence site, which features modern architectural design with tower rooms, since Aug 1996. The four-storey residential buildings contain precast-concrete staircases and covered walkways.
