ROYAL PHILIPS TO PULL OUT FROM NON-CERAMIC BUSINESS

Royal Philips Electronics (RPE) of Netherlands is to quit the non-ceramic passive components business. It will be selling this business to Compass Partners International. The non- ceramic passive components division of Philips India (PI) is known as Components Business Group. This division is at Lone in Pune. It accounted for 5 percent of PI's sales in 1997. This division employs around 700 people. (ag)
