KLM warns of slowdown after profits miss estimates

KLM's net fell 64% in first quarter

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines posted a decline of 64% in its net profits for the first-quarter of 1999. The figure did not include exceptional gains. KLM also said that it predicts its operating earnings for the entire 1999 year will be lower than 1998's figures. The carrier's earnings fell by approximately 77 million guilders (34.9 million euros) during the period.
