Kansai's capacity doubles up
Article Abstract:
Kansai International Airport, the second-biggest international airport in Japan and the world's first major offshore airport, would boost aircraft movements to 230,000 by 2007 once a new 4,000 X 60m parallel runway and satellite terminal are completed. The development is part of the Phase II expansion in Kansai's Seventh Airport Development seven-year plan. In addition, a third 3,500 X 60m crosswind runway is envisioned in a tentative final phase that would boost yearly movements to as many as 260,000 by 2011.
