TRW-DAS (Dacice, Czech Republic), subsupplier of the automotive industry, saw proceeds of 1.826 bil Kc in 1999. Exports represented more than 50% of the 1999 proceeds. The firm has 900 employees. It manufactures rack-and-pinion steering, steering wheel safety columns, steering joints, wheel and hollow joints, guide bars, suction and exhaust valves. The firm is a part of a multinationl automotive component supplier resident in Cleveland, the US.

Karsit (Jaromer, Czech Republic), group of automotive component and garden equipment manufacturers, saw a turnover of CEK 3.2 bil in 2000. The firm is focused on the production of automotive exhausts and catalytic converters, complete seat and headrest metal structures and pressed automotive components. Besides, Karsit is a manufacturer of garden equipment, which is intended mainly for exports to Western Europe. Its programme associated to garden equipment includes the production of leisure-time one-seat off-road vehicles. The logistics subsidiary Karsped (Jaromer, Czech Republic) ensures Just-in-Time deliveries by its own lorries. The group Kersit has about 950 employees.

Siemens Automobilove Systemy will increase its turnover

Siemens Automobilove systemy (SAS) (Frenstat pod Radhostem, Czech Republic), automotive component manufacturer, expects a turnover of DEM 240 mil for the fiscal year 2000/2001. The firm should produce more than 11 mil various electronic systems during the same period. SAS produced 8 mil pieces and saw a turnover of DEM 159 mil for 1999/2000 compared to 1 mil pieces and DEM 6.7 mil for 1995/1996. Besides electronic systems and sub-systems for the automotive industry, SAS manufactures some systems for household electrical appliances.
