Konica credits cost reductions for 44% profit jump, as sales ease

Konica Minolta Holdings Inc. of Japan posted soaring net profit for the first quarter by 44 percent to 10.56 billion Yen ($92.1 million) from 7.32 billion Yen last year. Strong revenues at the photographic equipment giant were due to cost cutting measures, increased market share of new products and a weak Yen currency.
