Many South Korean nationalists decry the proliferation of American flag-inspired clothes and fashion apparel. They believe that such paraphernalia depict South Korea's dependency on the US. However, designers and manufacturers of such items stress that American flag-inspired apparel are only fashion trends and do not contain any political messages. American flag-inspired apparel are slowly gaining acceptance among many Korean teenagers.
