LANCER INDIA TO SET UP JV WITH WACKENHUT CORP

Lancer India Ltd, a private security consultancy firm, has tied- up with Wackenhut Corporation of the US to set up a joint venture called Wackenhut & Lancer India Pvt Ltd. The requirement for agencies following internationally-accepted security guidelines is growing as many multinational companies are entering the country. The new venture has already acquired security contracts from about 60 multinational and domestic corporate clients including Du Pont, New Holland Tractors, Unicorp, Duncans, the Jamnagar plant of Reliance, Malaysian Airlines' office and the Mexican embassy. Delta Innovative Enterprises Ltd (Deltagram) of Chennai has decided to expand its communication service operations. The company provides express messaging facilities and serves over 15,000 members in 13 cities at present. It has decided to invest Rs80 crore and network 800 towns having a population of 50,000 and above within five years. It has already started implementing the first phase, which will network 200 towns, at a cost of Rs15 crore. (khr)
