La BBL revoit en baisse ses pr visions/
Article Abstract:
The Belgian companies might revise down their investments in 1999, BBL expects. This, and the expected decrease in Belgian exports as a result of the crisis in Asia and Russia, led the Belgian bank to revise down its economic forecast. In 1999, the country's GDP should go up by 2.6% when a 2.8% progression was foreseen in June 1998. On the other hand, the 1998 performance should be a 2.8% increase compared to an expected 2.7%, BBL believes. The increase in 1998 is due to strong consumption, up by an estimated 2.9% that year when the previous forecast was a 2.3% increase.
