Article Abstract:

City Hotels has taken advantage of the many candidates, especially in Britain, France and France's neighbour countries, to sell the totality of its European network of hotels, worth 1,204 rooms and 45% of the group's total capacity in hotels. The operation, worth BFr 2.14bn, brings a BFr 1.4bn capital gain to the Belgian group, also active in air transport with a 45.2% share in City Bird. City Hotels will now invest again in hotels, with a special focus on Europe, the US and maybe Asia. The European luxury units (four hotels in Brussels, one in Ostende, and another unit in Amsterdam), will be sold to a US group whose name was not disclosed.

As of August 1998, the Belgian football league will distribute a new smart card (Football Fan Card) to the 200,000 supporters reported by the league. The new card will allow the supporter to get his personal ticket (one single ticket per people). It will not be possible to re-sale the ticket, which will entitle its holder to a single match and seat. The new system aims at fighting hooliganism and improve the safety standards in stadia. Bull will supply the smart cards.
