Lafarge invests in Korea buying Wallboard plants

Lafarge SA, a France-based construction materials group, has announced plans to acquire two wallboard manufacturing facilities, respectively in Yosu and Ulsan in South Korea, from Buksan and Dongbu, both based in South Korea, for a total of $95 million. The two facilities are part of Lafarge's aggressive expansion strategies in the construction building materials industry's emerging markets. The announcement was made after Lafarge completed a deal with Calumboyan Properties Inc. relating to a joint acquisition of 988 million shares in Seacem, a cement manufacturer based in the Philippines.
