Land of the free
Article Abstract:
The nations in the world with the greatest economic freedom are now Hong Kong and Singapore, leading a list dominated by Asian countries. Defining freedom as lack of government intrusion into the economy, Heritage Foundation researchers Bryan Johnson and Thomas Sheehy surveyed 101 countries for their 'Index of Economic Freedom.' They found that economic freedom corresponds closely to growth and prosperity, and noted that the wealthiest nations, as they reduce freedom, are also slowing growth.

Trading places: time to lower Asia's internal barriers to growth
Article Abstract:
Asia's continued economic success will depend on countries dropping barriers to one another as they have dropped internal ones. Regional efficiencies can offer investors a great deal, but prohibitive tariffs and duties currently lead many businesspeople to look to Europe or Asia for supplies and services. Asian leaders should start now to lower the barriers that Apec recently called for eliminating by 2020.
