The United Kingdom market for large kitchen appliances grew 4.4% by volume to 8.23 million units and 3.6% by value to 2.08 billion pounds sterling in 1993 from 1992. The dishwashers market grew 11% by value to 125 million pounds sterling and 12% by volume to 370,000 units in 1993, with home-owners upgrading their homes rather than moving in the weak housing market. The market for dishwashers is thought to have the best growth potential out of all the white goods sectors. The market for large kitchen appliances is examined in detail.
