Support for European Union among member electorates has substantially faded, as the public has grown increasingly disillusioned as to how the Union benefits them. Part of the problem is that it is managed in such a complex and heavily bureaucratic manner its benefits are largely incomprehensible.

Enlarging NATO: why bigger is better
Article Abstract:
There is relative peace in the world, and in such times it may become easy to overlook the institutions and diplomacy that have made it possible. One such institution is NATO and the role it has had in unifying Europe. A broader NATO should further unify Europe and increase security in the area.

Adding Eastern and Central European nations as members to the European Union is proving to be very difficult. The Union seeks to add ten new nations to increase its membership to 25, but by doing so would only increase its GDP by 4%, putting a strain on the Union budget.
