Leaving the classroom behind
Article Abstract:
British employers complain of the low level of skills of school leavers, despite improvements in examination results. The centre for Economic Performance has issued a report that shows that too many graduates have studied arts subjects and lack computing, technological and quantitative skills. Meanwhile, 19% of the population of working age did not have any qualifications in 1997. Reforms include new vocational examinations insubjects like retailing and tourism.
