Leciva keeps itself profitable

Leciva (Prague, Czech Republic), pharmaceutical company, expects its proceeds to rise to about 5.3 bil Kc in 2000. The company's pre-tax profit should increase by about 100 mil Kc in 2000 compared to 1999, mainly due to launching new products. According to preliminary results, in 1999 Leciva generated a pre-tax profit of 1.05 bil Kc on proceeds of 4.962 bil Kc from sales. Leciva's exports rose slightly from 1.8 bil Kc in 1998 to 1.831 bil Kc in 1999, having about a 37% share in total sales in each of the years. Its main export market is Slovakia. Leciva's 1999 domestic market share was 14% in financial terms and about 30% in terms of the number of sold packs. The year-on-year increase in its prices was about 2% in 1999.

CMC profitable

Ceskomoravsky cement (CMC) (Beroun, Czech Republic), building material manufacturer, saw a pre-tax profit of 378.6 mil Kc in the first half of 1999. In 1998 the company generated a profit of 573.5 mil Kc on proceeds of more than 4 bil Kc. Its cement production declined by 5.6% to 2.1 mil t in 1998 compared to 1997. CMC has a stock of 2.3 bil Kc and about 1,300 employees. It has a 45% share on the domestic market, covering approximately 20% of the industry-made mortare mixture market and over 15% of the lime market. CMC's majority shareholder is Heidelberger Zement (Austria).

Prazske VAK profitable in 1999

Prazske VAK (PVAK) (Prague, Czech Republic), water company, generated an economic result of 61.4 mil Kc in 1999. Its 1999 after-tax profit amounted to 28 mil Kc. The company saw outputs of 3.25 bil Kc in 1999. Water consumption in Prague declined by 13 mil cu mt in 1999 compared to 1998. The drop was caused mainly by the problems of local large companies.
